LUCID DREAMS
Year:
2022
Lucid Dreams is a photographic series that reimagines urban architecture through vivid pastel colours.
The project is also an effort to explore the relationship and impact of blockchain technology, in particular NFTs, on photography.
Buildings are presented into simplified planes and geometric compositions, blurring the boundary between photography and painting.
The project presents an in-between space where reality and imagination overlap.
Architectural structures remain recognizable, yet their colours and forms are captured in a way to create a dreamlike visual world.
Through minimal compositions, leading lines, and saturated tones, the series invites viewers to reconsider how everyday urban environments can be perceived.
The project is also an effort to explore the relationship and impact of blockchain technology, in particular NFTs, on photography.
Each photograph in “Lucid Dreams” exists as a single edition that can be collected in one of two forms: a physical print or an NFT.
When one format is chosen, the other is permanently destroyed. The work therefore functions as a small experiment on ownership and materiality in photography, as well as to test public reaction on the use of blockchain technology in art, and how the technology influence the way photographic works are valued, distributed and collected.
Result of the social experiment: 6/10 pieces of work have been collected. Out of the 6 pieces, 3 collectors have chosen to burn the physical print, while the remaining ones decide to destroy the NFT to retain the physical print.
